The Color Coded series is a body of studio work that references anatomical models, food chains, exploded view drawings, maps, and similar systems of organization and classification. I retain certain aspects of these references, like using color-coding to differentiate individual three-dimensional components, because this source material has a recognizable and appealing cultural authority. However, I take pleasure in manipulating other aspects of this diagrammatic language.

For example, I created sculptural anatomies that are ambiguous and fragmented, hybridizing human, animal, and mechanical traits in order to locate these bodies as a site of conflict. My drawings are imbued with humor, tension, and a sense of the uncanny so their infographic aspects are seen through the lens of a dream-like, broken narrative. Through these strategies, I draw attention to the complex relationships between organic bodies and the desires of the human made world.
